Here is a brief comparison of the different internet types available. This also gives a clear information about the 3G technology.
GPRS and EDGE come under 2G category and the tariff for the 2G data plans are extremely low. As discussed earlier the 2Gplans will be published
shortly here.
Here I wish to put whatever I come across today's Telecommunication Industry.Mostly would try to put solutions for problems we come across Telecom- and of course Broadband / Internet / GPRS /3G etc.I would try to cover most of the tariff plans from most of the operators or networks available here in India.Right for now I am going to start with state owned BSNL.(all the tariff published here are either from their web or their latest press / handout releases)

Settings for BSNL 3G data card
After Installation, go to MENU / SETTINGS - create a new profile with profile name = bsnl ,dial number = *99#, apn = bsnlnet.Leave the Username and Password fields blank.Do remember to mark this as the default connection. You need not to search for the connection automatically and suffer. Usually this manual setting is the most ideal and you can start browsing in minutes. If your usage is very limited and not very particular about VERY HIGH SPEED, you can even use 2G SIM cards for basic browsing. Will put all 2G plans complete tariff shortly- Unlimited plans on 2G is just Rs.249/- per month.

NEW BSNL UNLIMITED HOME PLANS -FREEDOM PLANS
(pls note there is a big change in plans--- will update shortly-- sorry for the delay)These are newly introduced UNLIMITED plans for the Home users. Here the basic plans starts at 512 Kbps. There is another popular plan for Rs.2799/- p.m., @8 Mbps speed which allows 50Gb with 300 free calls.(please hit "back" button to return to the page) May be the operator wanted to retain the earned great name for Land Line and has offered
bundle with lot of free calls. The most people I have come across say, "we do not need any free calls ,, we posses mobiles(note: not mobile ... mobiles!!) of course the penetration of cellular industry has made big changes in the Telecom Industry and almost made people to forget fixed landline phones. However if we seriously Analise, we can understand for those at home- like housewives, retired people, Home cum Office people the land line can be the best solution- not only economic but for the sound clarity too.

BSNL 3G TARIFF
You will find theComplete Tariff for the BSNL s 3G data services here. The plans for the prepaid and postpaid are same.Prepaid is actually "on the spot" almost & Postpaid as usual little longer procedure. The data plans whatever you recharge for the PREPAID, has a special feature. For not having any inturruption during the work ,data charges beyond free usage will be deducted from the available balance in the main account(Hence always keep some balance in the main account- the deduction beyond free data usage goes upto minus Ten Rupees). I would say, Unless there is a necessity - like reimbursement, I advice only prepaid as you can change plan of your choice every time you re=charge. When choosing a service, you should be clear on the following things (this is common for anything not only for any USB datacard).
1. Confirm that the Device Supports All Frequencies (Tri band / Quadband)
2. Possibility of Changing the Operator / Network whenever possible(UNLOCKED)
3. Service Support from the Supplier (most marketing people fly away!!)Important:
As the ready-made recharge vouchers are NOT available around the market presently, the users can avail from any BSNL Easy Recharge retailer, even from those who recharge from online(Smart Shoppe / Pay world etc.). The most funny thing is that most of them are not aware about Data Recharge. Simple::: Don't ask them for any DATA RE-CHARGE, tell the MRP (stated as Including S.Tax above) and ask to recharge for that MOBILE NUMBER of the Data SIM.
HERE is the Tariff for the TOP-UP for the Data (Remember - Never ask for the Data Top-Up to the retailer and simply tell your number & the denomination for the top-up. ) This is required once the data you have recharged is over before the one month period.
Those who want more details - even on BSNL Broadband may write to me!!

BSNL 3G plans
Having practically tested in most areas of chennai, I found the 3G service by BSNL is really good. Only Unlimited plan is costlier(of course this is BASMATHI Rice)and the other plans are very reasonable. The best plan for most would be the one
coming at Rs.549/-p.m (Rs.606/- incl. S.Tax). This Plans has 1 Gb Free flow all time and 5 Gb during nights.
The appreciable part of this is the night hours are between 2300hrs and 0700hrs unlike their Broadband schemes night hrs starting at 0200hrs.
The biggest problem with their Services is _ Getting the Call Centre in line. If at all you reach them
you will not get any necessary information and sometimes wrong informations. However I am going to manage publishing maximum updated information not only from BSNL and others too.
The next problem in that the changes in the plans (though mostly reduce and you wont be able to recharge your BSNL prepaid account as you did last month). The denomination of the Recharge would change with insufficient information. They pulled down the plan to 999/- from 1099/-. The problem in this is that we will not know the correct denomination (i.e with tax - in this case it is now Rs.1102/-)
Similarly the following plans have been withdrawn and no longer available-no information from anybody even from their Customer Service(!!) Centres. Plans 899(5Gb), 1699(10+15Gb) and 1999(15Gb+ night unlimited) have been dropped!!.
Will update with all their 3G plans with tax amount and interesting 2G plans shortly.ramanindia25@gmail.com
